Bank Note of the Year 2019

2021-01-21 Thu

Bank Note of the Year Award” for 2019 went to the 100 Florin Banknote issued by the Central Bank of Aruba. The International Bank Note Society (IBNS) and its voting membership have selected the Central Bank of Aruba to receive its annual prestigious Award.

With well over 100 new banknotes released worldwide during 2019, only 22 were deemed of the sufficiently new design to be member nominated. Almost from the start, Aruba’s new 100 Florin bill led the voting followed by an almost virtual tie between Eastern Caribbean States ($10 with multiple motifs), Northern Ireland Ulster Bank (5 Pound flying geese with people on the shoreline) and Switzerland (1000 Franc human hands).

The banknote is emerald green and in the vertical format. On the front it presents an iguana and on the back a traditional dance of the entity. The most striking thing about this Aruba banknote is the high-relief printing, colour-changing ink and a moving stripe with integrated 3d Motion Surface technology.
